The Year of Salman Khan - Diwali to Diwali

The year from Diwali 2010 to Diwali 2011 was definitely the year of Salman Khan. Two years ago, his Main Aur Mrs. Khanna couldn’t survive even one week in cinemas and was premiered on the DTH platform within five days of its release. After the release of Wanted (in September 2009), he’s had a run that even he couldn’t have dreamed of – Dabangg, Ready and now, Bodyguard – Main Aur Mrs. Khannanotwithstanding. How fate changed for Salman is unfathomable, but the film industry has been reaping the harvest ever since. Salman’s Bodyguard netted an unbelievable Rs. 20+ crore on the first day, on the festive occasion of Eid, making it the highest single day net collection for any film, ever. Obviously, Salman owns Eid in Bollywood: last Eid, his Dabangg had smashed all previous records on the day of its release, netting Rs. 14.35 crore on the opening day. In the Overseas circuit too, the opening day’s gross collection of Bodyguardin Dubai was 11 lakh dirhams, which was 4 lakh dirhams more than the previous record-holding film – again a Salman Khan starrer,Dabangg. In the UK, the first day’s record gross of Bodyguard was £60,000 but the next day, which was Eid (the film opened in UK a day before Eid), the gross collection jumped to £2,00,000, which is the highest single week-day collection ever for a Hindi film! Nobody has calculated this before, but on the Eid day, Salman Khan must be the world’s biggest star!

Salman Khan - Shakti Kapoor War ?

Mumbai: Shakti Kapoor, who is currently held captive in `Bigg Boss 5` house is feeling apologetic for his behaviour with Salman Khan. The veteran actor had apparently miffed his younger colleague in the past and is repenting for having annoyed the superstar.

Reportedly, Shakti’s son Siddhant was supposed to be launched by the `Dabangg` Khan. But ever since Bollywood villain and Khan had a tiff over reasons not yet known, junior Kapoor’s dream of a starry launch shattered.

Though the young actor has finally grabbed the role of a sharpshooter in Sanjay Gupta’s `Shootout at Wadala`, that also stars Anil Kapoor and John Abraham, he failed to find space under Salman’s wings.

According to a source’s revelation to a tabloid, Shakti had confessed in one of the episodes of `Bigg Boss 5` that he is now feeling guilty of having hurt Salman Khan.

“Shakti was referring to Salman. As Shakti was in an inebriated state, he later realised what he had done. But it was too late to make amends,” said the source.

Siddhant was also being considered by Sanjay Dutt for the remake of `Satte Pe Satta`. But ever since Sanjay learnt of Shakti and Salman’s animosity, he dropped the idea of taking Kapoor’s son in his home production.

“Siddhanth was then being considered for the remake of `Satte Pe Satte` which is being produced by Sanjay Dutt. But as the project has yet to take off, he decided to move on."

Siddhant who is also a DJ, essays the role of a sharpshooter in Shootout at Wadala that also stars Anil Kapoor and John Abraham.

"Siddhant has an independent identity of his own and deserves to be on the big screen. Plus he is a very talented and a good-looking boy,” said Sanjay Gupta to the tabloid.

`Salman is and will be there for me- Katrina Kaif

Dublin: When will Salman Khan get married is one question that every fan of the superstar is dying to ask his idol. But whether or not the most eligible bachelor of Bollywood plans to tie the nuptial anytime soon, here’s some good news.

The `Dabangg` superstar has been bonding big time with his ex-ladylove Katrina Kaif ever since the two started shooting for Yash Raj’s `Ek Tha Tiger` in Dublin that is being directed by Kabir Khan.

Talking to a tabloid, a source revealed, “Katrina was apprehensive about how Salman would behave on their first film together after the break-up. He has always been unpredictable. But he`s been looking after her, making sure she`s comfortable. He has been protective towards Katrina.”

“It`s obvious they are in a happy place,” the source added.

Both Salman and Katrina are enjoying their much-needed vacation despite being at work.

“They are having a ball together, and they deserve it. It`s been a stressful time for both. For Salman, on the health front, and for her, because she`s overworked. We are shooting nights here in Dublin, and that`s tough for Katrina, but great for Salman. He is a `night person`,” said the source.

When quizzed about the news of her alleged animosity with her mentor, Katrina said, “When did we become enemies? Salman is and will be there for me.”

Well…is this the beginning of a new innings of Salman-Katrina love saga?
